Linoleic Acid

Linoleic acid is abundant in plant fats and oils, e.g. linseed oil, groundnut oil, and soya-bean oil. It is an essential fatty acid.

Linoleic acid produces the prostaglandins that are contained in every cell of your body and are essential for good health. CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid) is an omega-6 fatty acid that was discovered in the early 80's and that continues to be researched by scientists due to its many health properties. One of the most significant reasons for obesity could be due to a deficiency in CLA. The only way to get CLA in food is through meat and dairy products. Studies have proved that our CLA food content has decreased up to 60% over the past 40 years due to cattle farm feeding methods.

Multiples studies have demonstrated CLA's ability to decrease body fat while maintaining muscle tissue. Research has also proven that CLA suppressed lipoprotein, an enzyme that stores fat in the body. By limiting this enzyme, CLA helps the body lower its stored fat.

CLA has been shown to reduce body fat in four ways.:

* By decreasing the amount of fat that is stored after eating
* By maximizing the speed of fat breakdown in fat cells
* By increasing the rate of fat-burning
* By lowering the total number of fat cells
